English, but of Polish descent, Marta Czok was born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1947. The following year she moved with her family to London, where she attended the Saint Martin’s School of Art and, at a very young age, took part in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

In 1974 she moved to Italy. Throughout her long artistic career she has exhibited in numerous public and private venues in Europe and the United States of America. In 1998, after taking part in the project Alitalia per l’Arte (Alitalia for Art), the airline commissioned her to create a triptych dedicated to the Celestinian Forgiveness that was exhibited at the Castle of L’Aquila and subsequently donated to Pope John Paul II for his eightieth birthday. As part of the Holy Year celebrations of the year 2000 she was invited by the Embassy of the French Republic to the Holy See to show her work at the Roma Jubilans exhibition. In 2005, the first retrospective of her work was held at the Museum of San Salvatore in Lauro in Rome. In 2008, the national broadcasting company of Poland produced a documentary highlighting the relationship between her work and the Second World War, while in 2009 she first presented at Palazzo Ferrajoli in Rome her Children in the War and the Shoah series, which was later exhibited at the Civic Museum of Albano Laziale and in the former German Synagogue of Padua in 2010.

Among her most recent and noteworthy exhibitions are: About Us, held at the Papal Palace of Viterbo and the Zuckermann Palace in Padua (2011) and the Palazzo Zenobio in Venice (2012); Icons&Idols, at the MACRO Testaccio in Rome (2013); a retrospective at Calatabiano Castle (2014); Mother Rome for the Carlo Bilotti Museum at the Villa Borghese Orangery in Rome (2016); an exhibition at the Italian Cultural Institute in Warsaw (2017) and Metropolis at the Magione Arts District of Palermo as part of the events organized for Palermo City of Culture 2018 and Manifesta Biennal. Marta Czok dies in Castel Gandolfo, near Rome, in 2025.
